Fort Eisenhower is in the middle of its annual “All Hazards Response Exercise, Viper Gold” this week.
The exercise began Monday, March 4 and will run through Friday, March 8. During the exercise, visitors and workers should expect, and plan for, increased security measures and potential delays while entering and exiting the installation, according to a new release from Fort Eisenhower public affairs.
“There will be exercise scenarios occurring at various locations on the installation designed to exercise emergency preparedness and response capabilities. Those on and off the installation may hear warning sirens and announcements – each will be prefaced with ‘Exercise – Exercise – Exercise,'” the release said.
The public affairs office also encouraged people to “be extra vigilant during the exercise and aware of the heightened security measures. If you are on the installation and see suspicious activity, or an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 9-1-1. As long as these calls are placed on Fort Eisenhower they will route to the garrison call center where staff will intervene if the incident is exercise related. Exercise or real-world, calling 9-1-1 is the right answer if you see something concerning and potentially dangerous.”
