Andy Cheek Unveiling

Andy Cheek, served as Augusta Richmond County Commissioner of District 6 from 2000 to 2007, was instrumental in enhancing sports programs and facilities across the county. His commitment to fostering youth engagement through athletics left a lasting impact, making the baseball field a fitting tribute to his legacy.

“Andy Cheek believed in the power of sports to shape young lives,” said Tameka Allen, City Administrator. “His vision and leadership helped create opportunities for thousands of children to learn, grow, and thrive on and off the field. This renaming ensures his influence will be remembered for generations to come.”

The newly named Fred Ancil “Andy” Cheek III Ball Fields will continue to serve as a hub for youth leagues, tournaments, and community events, reflecting Cheek’s dedication to building a strong and active community.

The renaming ceremony will feature remarks from local officials, family members, and community leaders.  A commemorative plaque will also be unveiled at the field.
