Culinary Arts teacher named Richmond County Teacher of the Year

Chef Kanesha Roberts, who teaches culinary arts at George P. Butler High School, was named Richmond County’s Teacher of the Year at a Sept.18 banquet.

Roberts has taught for 10 years. She spent six years at Jefferson County High School before joining the Richmond County School System four years ago. An Army veteran, she received an Associate of Applied Science in culinary arts from Le Cordon Bleu.

At Butler, she serves as senior advisor, prom co-director and homecoming coordinator.

All 55 teachers of the year from each school were recognized at the banquet.

Other finalists were  Audrey Crosby, Jenkins-White Elementary School; Kristina Istre, A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School; Latanya Jackson, John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School; Andrie McFadden, Marion E. Barnes Career Center; and LaShanda Mills, Richmond Hill Elementary School.
