Five Columbia County teachers have been named as finalists for 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year.
The finalists are Kynisha Okonkwo, Harlem Middle School; Tawana Odom, Harlem High School; Tabitha Purvis, Euchee Creek Elementary School; Debra Hunter-Green, Martinez Elementary School; and
Rebecca Blumenthal, South Columbia Elementary School.
The Columbia County School District will hold its annual Teacher of the Year Celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at the Columbia County Exhibition Center.
Each school’s Teacher of the Year, including the top five finalists, will be recognized and awarded a variety of gifts, according to a news release from the school district. The winning Teacher of the Year will go on to represent the Columbia County School District at the state level.
