Club Car® celebrated the opening of its new Appling manufacturing facility with tours and a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 18.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp joined state and local elected officials and area business leaders to tour the new manufacturing facility, learn about the Club Car Urban vehicle and participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony, according to a Club Car news release.
“Club Car is bringing jobs into Georgia in the growing e-mobility sector and leading the way in compact utility EV manufacturing,” said Kemp during the ceremony. “Their growth and this investment are a testament to the work we are doing to continue to make Georgia the number one state to do business.”
The Club Car Appling Manufacturing Facility is a 105,000-square-foot flexible production and warehouse storage space that Club Car opened to offer customers a better experience as demand in the United States for the Club Car Urban vehicle increases, the release continued.
Club Car has committed nearly $8 million in capital investments into the facility over two years. The new facility currently operates a state-of-the-art production line and can produce up to 20 vehicles per day.
“We are excited to share how our innovative vehicles are impacting commercial fleet electrification, mini-mobility and last mile delivery with the Governor and First Lady,” said Mark Wagner, Club Car President and CEO. “As a Georgia based company for more than sixty years, we are proud of the quality, safety and reliability that our team builds into every Club Car product – that’s the Club Car difference.”
Since 1958, the Club Car product portfolio has grown to include much more than golf cars, now encompassing vehicles for commercial and consumer markets.
The Club Car Vehicle Group includes luxury electric vehicle brand, Garia, and lightweight electric utility vehicle brand, Melex. Garia and Melex product portfolios share similar characteristics of reliability, thoughtful design and proven performance.
“Club Car Vehicle Group is proud to be at the forefront of environmentally responsible Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) technologies,” the news release said.
“Club Car Urban is a workhorse that has become a leading choice as an environmentally friendly, street-legal alternative and addition to college campuses, businesses, farms and industrial sites around the world. Whether it’s facilities maintenance, moving equipment, last-mile delivery of packaged goods or food services, flexible configuration options and accessories make it easy for users to take advantage of the vehicle’s truck-like payload capacity to handle most tasks. Urban can be equipped in different electric lithium options to provide extended range and improved performance in every climate.”
