Camp Soul City back for third year July 13

The third annual Camp Soul City will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13.

Campers can check in at Camp HQ, also known as Augusta & Co., 1010 Broad St, to pick up a camp map then visit participating stores to participate in camp-themed activities where they can earn a merit badge, according to a news release from Downtown Soul City.

Activities include collage your own bookmark, DIY natural bug spray, tie-dye tees and edible campfires.  Camp activities at each location will be either free or low cost and are geared toward all ages.

Camp Soul City is a wonderful event that brings our community together in a fun and engaging way…It’s a fantastic way to explore and support our local businesses while enjoying a unique downtown Augusta experience that the whole family can enjoy,” said John Porter, Downtown Soul City director.

This year DSC is partnering with downtown restaurants to provide “canteen” stops for campers. Once campers have completed at least two activities qualify for discounts. Augusta Pop Co. will sell popsicles at Camp HQ, the news release continued.

“The effort made to visit stores in person and participate in local events, sponsored by small business owners, contributes greatly to the success of our local economy,” said Sarah Childers, Destination Augusta’s experience and community engagement manager. “We hope that any first-time campers will become recurring, engaged customers at our unique locally-owned businesses.”

Downtown Soul City VIP members can pick up a complimentary lanyard and badge at Camp HQ Augusta & Co. VIP community memberships are available for only $4.99/month for a single membership or $9.99/month for a family membership. VIP members receive perks at each of the quarterly events hosted by DSC.
