Byllesby Center offered holiday festivities to community on Dec. 7

Crafts, food and holiday fun were part of the Byllesby Center’s Christmas Festival Saturday.

Sponsored by the Church of the Good Shepherd and Lewiston United Methodist Church, the event drew Harrisburg area residents for a lunch featuring homemade chili and hot dogs.

Santa made a visit as well. While a table was set up for kids to color and make ornaments, the children went outside and played, leaving the adults to explore their artsy side and make their own ornaments, according to Pam Jesion, who ministers at the outreach with her husband, the Rev. Larry Jesion.

“There were plenty of activities outdoors – games, face painting, music and an impromptu football game,” Jesion wrote in an email.

Jesion declared the event a success, and no one left empty handed.

“Everyone left with packets of socks collected by the Augusta Convocation during Socktober and beautiful handknit scarves and hats made by the Church of the Holy Comforter,” she wrote
