Award-winning comic book writer to appear in Aiken

The Etherredge Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken welcomes award-winning comic book writer Chuck Brown for a special evening of conversation and creativity on Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.

Brown, from Columbia, is best known for his groundbreaking work on titles such as “Bitter Root” (Image Comics), “On the Stump” and “The Punisher” (Marvel Comics). He will appear as part of the Carolina Series artist live on stage for an engaging interview and audience question-and-answer session.

Fans and aspiring writers alike will have the opportunity to hear firsthand about his creative process, career journey, and the evolving landscape of the comic book industry.

Following the onstage event, Brown will be available in the Etherredge Center lobby for a book signing and meet-and-greet, where guests can purchase his works and have them autographed.

“Chuck Brown’s storytelling blends powerful social commentary with dynamic characters and
striking visuals,” said Paul B. Crook, Etherredge Center executive director. “We’re excited to offer our students and community patrons this opportunity to connect with one of the most innovative voices in contemporary comics.”

The Carolina Series, in its seventh year, features the work of all variety of South Carolina artists.
