Augusta University’s Pinillos leads Southland Conference Championship

SAN MARCOS, Texas – On April 15, after two rounds of the Southland Conference Championship, Augusta University sophomore Zoe Pinillos is in the lead at two-under. The Jaguar team is second behind Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Pinillos was the only golfer under par at two-under and had a two shot lead after Monday’s first round, according to a news release from Augusta University. She posted an even-par 72 on Tuesday and still maintains that two-shot lead.

The Augusta team is 10 shots out of the top spot. The winner of the tournament gets the automatic qualifier for the NCAA regionals.

Junior Marine Legentil moved up four spots and is now in seventh place. Legentil also posted an even-par 72. Her round featured four birdies and four bogies to remain in the thick of things, five shots behind Pinillos, the release continued.

Sara Adams shot a two-over 74 on Tuesday and is ninth place overall. Adams had three birdies in the first five holes but a stretch of three straight bogies to start the back nine derailed her round.

Jessica Pilgrim is the other Jaguar in the lineup and shot 83 Tuesday.

Augusta will be paired with Texas A&M Corpus Christi in Wednesday’s final round.
