NEW ORLEANS – It was a dominating performance as the Augusta University men’s golf team won the Gulf Coast Collegiate by 16 shots on Feb. 24.

As a team, the Jaguars posted a 1-under-par score, which was the best round of the tournament. Pieter Rossouw Jr. and Chapman Barnett tied for medalist honors with Joseph Dolezal of St. John’s, at 9-over-par. It was the first team victory for the Jaguars since they won the Southland Conference Championship last year.

All five Jaguar golfers finished in the top 20 with Barnett shooting an even-par 72 to wrap up the event. His round featured three birdies and three bogeys as he moved up four spots on the leaderboard.

Rossouw started the day with a share of the lead and went out at 5-over-par. He rebounded on the final nine holes and birdied two of the last three holes to finish with a 75 and a tie for the top spot.

The top rounds of the day were turned in by Dean Wilken and Bo Blanchard II. Wilken made three birdies to go along with a single bogey to post a 70. He finished in 10th place.

Blanchard’s round featured five birdies. He would finish in 14th place.

Josh Daniels had the non-counting team score and shot 76 in the final round. He would finish in 19th place.

Augusta will next be in action March 13-15 at the Schenkle Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia.
