Augusta Prep takes individual and team cross country state titles

The Augusta Prep girls varsity cross country team won its first state championship in three years and eighth grader Tabby Trapp won the individual state title on Oct. 26.

Prep won the event with a team total of 70 points, finishing just ahead of Central Fellowship Christian (72) and Sherwood Christian (77), according to information from Augusta Prep.

Trapp won her title with a time of 20:14.10, finishing more than 50 seconds ahead of the field. Senior Masa Iwanski finished 15th, followed by eighth-grader Katelyn Harris (17th), ninth-grader Abigail Moore (18th) and senior Ashley Loo (28th).

Tabby became the third member of the Trapp family to win a state title, joining older siblings Hayes and Aine.

In the boys competition, Augusta Prep placed fourth. Ninth-graders Hayes Ellington (fifth, 17:27.52) and Fred McAteer (ninth, 17:59.45) led the way for the Cavaliers, while senior Seth Crowson finished 19th and ninth-grader Zach Crowson placed 36th.

Augusta Prep won the boys and girls region cross country championship Oct. 17 in Sandersville, Ga. Trapp won the girls individual title, while Ellington brought home the boys title.
