Augusta Mini Theatre gala events postponed

Due to illness, the gala weekend planned for the Augusta Mini Theatre Jan.16-18 has been altered.

According to an email from the mini theater, Tyrone Butler, the founder, is ill. Some of the events celebrating the new theater building will be rescheduled.

The ribbon cutting will still be at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, but performances on Jan. 17 and 18 will be rescheduled.

“Out of care and respect for Mr. Butler’s health and recovery, we are pausing performance-based programming while still moving forward with the important milestone of opening our new 142-seat theatre,” according to a Facebook post.

“Ticketholders for the postponed performances will be contacted directly with information regarding ticket options.”

The Augusta Mini Theatre celebrated its 50th anniversary in October 2025. Construction on a 142-seat theater was completed in the fall.
