Augusta Half expected to impact traffic Feb. 28

The 2026 Augusta Half Marathon, 10K & 5K  will be Saturday, Feb. 28 with traffic impacts in and around Augusta, the Augusta Canal, Summerville, and the Lakemont/Lake Olmstead area.

The event will start and end at the AU Summerville Campus, 2500 Walton Way.

The Half Marathon will begin at 7:15 a.m., followed by the 10K and 5K at 7:45 a.m. The Medals for Miles Kids Fun Run will start at 10:30 a.m., according to a news release.

As a result, Augusta residents, businesses, and those visiting the city will potentially be affected – to varying degrees – by these impacts. Residents and businesses along the route have been sent a mailer with contact information for the Augusta Sports Council, the release continued.

Course maps and turn-by-turn directions can be found at AugustaHalf.org/course. Volunteers are still needed to serve as Course Marshals for the event. Interested volunteers can sign up at AugustaHalf.org/volunteer.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Department will reopen intersections as soon as the last runner has passed and expect to finish by 10 a.m.
