Augusta Arbor Day event focuses on hurricane recovery

The Georgia Forestry Commission and Georgia Tree Council’s first quarter program and state Arbor Day event, “Hurricane Recovery in Community Forests” will be Feb. 3 at two locations in Augusta.

The program will begin at the Savannah Riverkeeper (SRK) Building, 328 Riverfront Dr., where participants will hear from local Augusta speakers. There will be a lunch at SRK and then the program will move to Fitten Street Cemetery, 2301 Fitten St., for a ceremonial tree planting and demonstration.

A special ticket price of $20/person is awarded to any Tree City, Campus or USA Line member for this quarter program.
