After ‘very busy’ week, Georgia Power customer service rep says ‘I do’

The week before a wedding can be stressful for any bride.

But Patrice Eubanks spent the week leading up to her nuptials with Kendrick Eubanks with a few extra stresses. Patrice Eubanks works as a Georgia Power customer service representative.

“It’s been very busy, but we were able to make it to this moment, and we’re very happy,” she said.

Not only did the Thomson resident have to deal with power outages and some flooding at her home, but she spent the week traveling back and forth to Atlanta to help out the thousands of Georgia Power customers experiencing power outages and other issues due to Hurricane Helene.

Earlier in the week, she wasn’t sure if the wedding she’d been planning for the past two years was even going to be possible. Sacred Heart Cultural Center only had partial power on Sunday, but by Tuesday everything was up and running, Eubanks said.

The sun streamed through the stained-glass windows as the couple exchanged their vows in front of family and friends, many of whom wore blue in coordination with the bride’s colors.

The ceremony went off without a glitch, she said.

Patrice Eubanks said her husband has been her rock throughout the process.

“I’m happy that I have the husband I have; he was my peace,” she said.

He kept telling her that everything would work out and to have faith.

Kendrick Eubanks said he was appreciative of all the friends and family who came out to support them on their special day. Some of the guests and members of the bridal party were dealing with their own storm-related issues.

“I have a friend that’s in the wedding. She came from Savannah. She had damage to her home,” she said.

Their family and friends told the couple not to worry about them because they were fine, and they’d be there to support the Eubanks on their special day.

The bride said she was grateful to have been able to have the wedding in spite of all the challenges.

“We just count our blessings,” she said.
