The 49th annual Irish American Heritage Society’s St. Patrick’s Day parade will go on as planned wit revised route.
Set to start at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, IAHS officers and parade committee members planned a revised route in coordination with City of Augusta officials to ensure both participant and spectator safety amid ongoing downtown construction, according to a news release. The route crosses Broad Street but utilizes Greene and Reynolds streets more.
“With thousands of spectators expected downtown on parade day, safety remains our top priority,” said Parade Chairman Matt Kelly. “At the same time, we worked to maintain strong access to Broad Street businesses so that our patrons can continue to support the community.”
The 2026 route begins at the James Brown Arena Parking Lot and follows an approximately 1.73-mile course designed to keep the celebration lively and accessible.
2026 Parade Route:
- The Parade will exit the James Brown Arena Parking Lot heading north on 7th Street
- Turn left onto Greene Street (westbound)
- Turn right onto 10th Street (northbound)
- Turn left onto Reynolds Street (westbound)
- Turn left onto 11th Street (southbound)
- Turn left onto Greene Street (eastbound)
- Turn right onto 7th Street (southbound)
- Return to James Brown Arena Parking Lot where the route ends
This season’s parade will still cross Broad Street, offering convenient pedestrian access to downtown restaurants, shops, and attractions that have long benefited from the boost of Parade Day crowds. With an estimated 40,000 spectators annually, the Society emphasized keeping the celebration both safe and supportive of local businesses.
