The Burke County YMCA’s water park might be closed for the season, but people can take a dip or a plunge into the chilly water on Jan. 17 to help raise money for its programming.
“It’s shaping up to be a great mix of community spirit, a little chaos, and a really good cause. Participants will be taking a plunge to support YMCA programs that make swimming lessons, youth programs, and wellness opportunities accessible to everyone in our community,” wrote Hannah Messner, Aquatics Coordinator, in an email, about the Polar Plunge scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon.
The temps might not be exactly polar level as extended forecasts look for a high of 51 and a low of 31, but there will be hot chocolate and a fire pit where people can make s’mores,
The cost for the event is $25 per person or bring your friends and save. A group of five costs $100.
