Augusta women’s basketball capped 2025 with a 91–69 home win over Converse on New Year’s Eve afternoon at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars improved to 7–4 overall while staying 3–2 in Peach Belt play.
Augusta’s offense clicked early despite an 11–6 start in favor of Converse. Amari Jackson got the Jaguars going with a series of mid-range jumpers, and a tip-in from Quinasia Abercrombie followed by a Sierra Burns three swung momentum. Augusta closed the first quarter on a 19–4 stretch to take a 25–15 lead after 10 minutes.
The Jaguars continued to control the tempo in the second quarter. McGinlay’s transition three, Burns at the line, and interior finishes from Abercrombie and Jackson kept the margin in double figures for most of the period as Augusta took a 44–34 lead into halftime.
Augusta put the game out of reach in the third. Jackson repeatedly got to the rim in the half court and in transition, while Abercrombie and Camerah Langston scored inside to push the advantage beyond 20. The Jaguars shot 75 percent (9-for-12) in the quarter and led 65–50 heading to the fourth.
The Jaguars continued to share the ball and score in the paint in the final period, with Langston, Burns, Chloe Ross, and Olivia Martin all adding late baskets as Augusta finished with 54 points in the lane and 25 assists on 38 made field goals.
Abercrombie led all scorers with 26 points on 10-for-12 shooting, adding 10 rebounds and four steals for a double-double. Jackson added 20 points on 10-for-13 shooting, while Burns chipped in 13 points (3-for-4 from three) and four assists off the bench. Langston finished with nine points and five rebounds, and Nadiyah Byard posted seven points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
As a team, Augusta shot 62.3% from the field and 50% from three while forcing 20 Converse turnovers and turning them into 24 points.
