The Aiken Community Theatre closes its 2024-2025 season with John Patrick’s “A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” a comedy of errors set in rural New England. It opens July 11 for two weekends.
Myra Marlowe, a burned-out TV actress, flees to the quiet community of Beaver Haven, Vermont, to write her autobiography and cultivate tomatoes. But she quickly discovers that she has escaped into a very different kind of madness. Her strange neighbors are everywhere, inquisitive and gossipy. Myra devises a plan involving a fictional “crazy sister” in an attempt to get some privacy, but it backfires in a hilarious way.
The show will be at 7:30 p.m. July 11, 12, 18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. July 13. Tickets are available her or by calling (803) 648-1438.

The organization will be hosting a fundraiser Aug. 16 at Newberry Hall.
The Starlight Gala – a Night of Shining Stars – will feature live performances, a silent auction, dinner, a cash bar and dancing.
“Your attendance helps us continue to bring quality theatre and arts education to our community. Come dressed to impress and ready to make memories — all for a great cause!” according to a news release.
